For decades, the stadium at Fred Finch Park has been a landmark in the Illawarra. It’s been the backdrop to thousands of buzzer-beaters, first goals, and community handshakes. But as our region grows, so does our vision.
We are thrilled to officially announce our new identity: the Illawarra Sports & Community Precinct (ISCP).
While many of you have known it as the “Netball Stadium” or the “Basketball Stadium” this change is about more than just a new sign at the front gate. It is a reflection of who we have become—and where we are going.
Why the Change?
The shift from “Stadium” to “Precinct” marks a transition toward a more inclusive, multi-use destination. We aren’t just a building with courts; we are a community hub designed to bring people together.
-
More Than Sport: While basketball, netball, and table tennis remain our pulse, we are home to the Lifeline Book Fair, cultural expos, and community markets.
-
A Space for Everyone: From elite athletes to toddlers in “Learn to Play” programs, the ISCP is designed for all ages and abilities.
-
Community First: The word “Community” isn’t just a filler—it’s our mission. We are committed to being the “living room” of the Illawarra, where connection is just as important as the scoreboard.
What Stays the Same?
The faces you know and the spirit of local competition aren’t going anywhere. We remain located at the heart of Fred Finch Park, serving as a premier indoor sports destination for our city and the wider Illawarra region. Our commitment to providing affordable, high-quality facilities for local clubs remains our top priority.
Looking Ahead
This rebranding is the first step in a series of planned improvements to enhance your experience. Whether you’re here for a high-stakes grand final or a weekend community fair, you’ll start to see fresh energy across our digital platforms and on-site facilities.
The Illawarra has always been a region that punches above its weight in sport and spirit. Now, we finally have a name that matches that ambition.
Welcome to the Precinct. —
“All People. All Events. All Here.”
